Hello Scott, I think the provided info is not enough to find out reasons of the issue. I recommend you to use Java profilers to identify a bottleneck. For example, you may use VisualVM. In general, we use Java8 + Spring5 (recently migrated from Spring4), everything works perfect. But we don't use jbehave-spring, we have our own small integration layer.
