|Sun has shipped an "offical" JDK 1.3 for Linux, is there a reason you
|are still using the JDK 1.3 release candidate 1?
|
|I noticed some strange performance issues when invoking java with
|"-server". I would try both "-client" and "-classic" to see if any of
|those will at least work. I believe the -classic will use green instead
|of native threads.
|
|I would also highly recommend using the latest 2.4 kernel. Linus has
|put a lot of work into addressing threading issues and server based
|performance, particularly on multi-processor machines. I have a 2 CPU
|box, and I use to crash the VM all the time until I upgraded to the
|latest kernel and glibc.
