The file deletion is mandatory!
Thats one of the reasons why we do that copy stuff.
Because the used URLClassLoaders dont notice that the content of an
archive has changed, we redeploy under an other url _and_ let the old
url point to nirvana. The problem is somehow deeper in the
URLClassLoader but so we get around and dont have to write our own
classloaders that maybe then not cooperate well with the web container
of your choice...
