I meant "allow JBoss community invest money in JBoss development" (sorry for
my sometimes vague English)

OK, I was unclear (to promptly stop any wild thoughts: I am not a rich
investor ;) ).

Thanks to Marc, you, many others and the community in general, JBoss is a
tremendous softare. Nevertheless, as Marc stated, to continue its briliant
evolution, JBoss needs money.

Some of the people using/living around Jboss directly contribute to Jboss
with new features, patches, support on the ML, ... This means they have (or
at least the take) the time, they have the capacity/knowlegde, ... to do so.
Fine.

Some other people may want to contribute differently to the project either
because they do not have time, knowledge, ... (or just because they want to)
and may be willing to invest/donate/... money for the JBoss project.

Many other open source projects offer the possibility to participate by
giving money: mearchandising, materials, money, ...

And maybe, just because other J2EE servers can be very expensive, some
people may think that they do a wonderfull job with Jboss and using another
AS would cost them much more! Consequently, they may be willing to
contribute to a fraction of the cost of another equivalent system. No
obligation, just the possibility. Just some "different" kind of support.

Please understand that I do not have a full financial plan in mind to
propose you tonight, just a start of idea. So it is still confuse in its
details. It may just be donation scheme or it may be a new "concept"
(because I have never heard of such a thing) such as giving the possibility
to the JBoss community members to "invest" money in Jboss (or Telkel or
whatever legal construct behind it)

It is not in my idea to pervert the free/open source concept idea behind
Jboss, be sure of this! JBoss needs to cleary stay what it has always been:
free, open source, powerfull. On the contrary, the idea that some members of
an open-source community are ready to invest in their project proves well
that they believe in it firmly and adds IMHO an even greater credibility to
this project.

Just an idea... from now launched in the arena!

Cheers,

                                Sacha
