I'm not a developer, but I'll offer some feed back anyway...

It looks good to me, though I'm not familiar enough with the commit
options to verify the correctness of your text, but at least I understand
the commit options now (assuming the descriptions are correct ;).

I added one comment a bit further down.

To me "newer than the 2.2.1 release" is ambiguous. Instead I think it's
better to mention the release where it is in fact supported and not
mention any other. I know that there hasn't been another release yet, so
perhaps it should read "the latest CVS version" or something until Scott
releases 2.2.2.
