Hi,
I've been following, with great interest, the ongoing discussions about
federated management, deployment, Master/Slave, Jini (but nobody mentioned
rio afaik - odd) and now I think jiro even popped up.
It's been a while but I used work for a company that produced unix access
control and management software. I was one of the guys they'd send to big
customer sites for large (>500 hosts), mission-critical deployments. In
my travels I got to explore a lot of issues surrounding distributed
software and centralised management.
Yesterday, figuring I might have something of value to add to the
discussion, I started what was supposted to be a quick email chipping in
my 2p about the partial failure scenarios which would affect
implementation decisions but it's gotten a bit out of hand...
Before I go further I'd like to know what the current crop of
management/deployment thinkers are intending:
a) centralised management and deployment within a single cluster only.
b) centralised management and deployment across clusters.
Trevor
