Category: JBossCMP Group: v3.2 >Status: Closed >Resolution: Invalid Priority: 5 Submitted By: David Baillieul (baillieul) Assigned to: Dain Sundstrom (dsundstrom) Summary: CMR not allowing insert Initial Comment: A page table has been defined with a foreign key to a process table. When adding a page to a process, the server returns null for the process id in the page, which causes a NPE when trying to create the page proxy. The sequence of events is as follows: 1) The pageBean is created (ejbCreate is called), resulting in an insert in the database. The process id for the page is not set at that time, because it is a CMR field. 2) ejbPostCreate is called. The process id is set. 3) the invoker gets a proxy object for the page. This result in a call to get the processId for the page that in turn does a select on the page row. This returns a null. What seems to be missing is the call to update the process id in the page row. This normally occurs as part of ejbStore. ejbStore is not invoked in this case because the transaction is not committed, or if a finder is invoked. Issue exists with 3.0.0, 3.0.1 and 3.0.2 all on Win2000 using Hypersonix database. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Dain Sundstrom (dsundstrom) Date: 2002-09-26 15:30 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=251431 I assume this is simply a misunderstanding, so I am closing this bug. If I am wrong, please reopen. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dain Sundstrom (dsundstrom) Date: 2002-09-23 14:34 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=251431 I can't help you without a testcase. I think this maybe a simple misunderstaning about the way CMP works. What are you saying in step 3? An update query is only executed when a finder is inovked, a bean is removed, or at the end of the transaction. That is just the way EJB works. You can not force a store to happen. It is the container's job to determine when a store is needed. Yes nested CMRs (as you have defined) are supported. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: David Baillieul (baillieul) Date: 2002-09-04 10:51 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=602690 Another thing I have discovered is that these tables have multiplr 1-many relationships. ie. A page may be associated with 1 to many processes. A process may then be associated with 1 to many notes. Is this nested CMR supported by JBOSS? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: David Baillieul (baillieul) Date: 2002-09-04 09:41 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=602690 I having a tough time coming up with a test case. Is there any suggestions you could make to force an early ejbStore? Do you know of any similiar bugs or work narounds??? This has become a very high visability bug. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dain Sundstrom (dsundstrom) Date: 2002-09-03 11:16 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=251431 I can not reproduce this bug. Are you still having this problem? If you are please respond by posting a test case. If you don not respond soon I will close this bug report. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dain Sundstrom (dsundstrom) Date: 2002-08-30 11:21 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=251431 You need to post a test case that reproduces this bug. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=376685&aid=601866&group_id=22866 ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Jboss-development mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/jboss-development
