As most of you know, Mort Bay Consulting, has been involved with the JBoss Project for well over 2 years as the developers of Jetty, the open source HTTP/servlet container, and its integrators with JBoss. We have also been involved with JBoss Group, the commercial entity, as providers of Jetty and JBoss professional services.
Our experiences during this time have regrettably led us to conclude that our commercial and personal apsirations would be better served outside of the JBoss Group.
Therefore, we have decided to join the Core Developers Network (http://www.coredevelopers.net), an open source services organization whose business ethos aligns more closely with our own.
The Core Developers Network has been formed as a partnership of peers with the guiding principles of openness, fairness and inclusivity. Its charter is to provide a commercial infrastructure to enable open source contributors to deliver their professional expertise to the marketplace, independent of their contributions to open source projects. Mort Bay will be using Core Developers Network as our preferred channel for training, documentation and support services.
We want to emphasise that after joining Core Developers, we will continue to provide the same responsive, high-quality technical support to the JBoss project as we have always done. As ever, we wish it every success and will do all that we can to strengthen and enhance that success. We will, however, be drawing a clear distinction between our support for JBoss the project and for JBoss Group, the commercial entity.
