Renuka, JBossCache uses JGroups as the communication medium. JGroups is the basis for many features in JBoss like Clustering etc. You can start by looking deeper into JGroups (http://www.jgroups.org)
JBossCache is divided into two classes -TreeCache and TreeCacheAOP.
