For code style settings, I'd recommand using Jalopy and its eclipse plugin... but that's a post for another forum :-)
About the Mevenide plugin - the sync functionality is great (sync'ing .classpath with the Maven dependencies) but I found it to be buggy also. Made Eclipse do funny things.
