(Sorry if this is a duplicate.)
Make sure that everything is deployed into the WEB-INF/lib directory,
specifically, your remote interfaces. Then put all of these explicitly
in the classpath in run.bat. There are problems with class loader
integration at this point, and the things in WEB-INF/lib are not loaded
properly. This may also go for WEB-INF/classes.
I was getting the same thing until I did this. The class cast exception
is due to the fact that two different class loaders loaded the class, so
the cast won't work. RMI is trying to be helpful by loading the class
remotely.
