Why you are using the <resource-ref> you have set the datasource in the
jaws.xml. It should be enough to set the datasource in jaws.xml. Maybe the
deployer is confused when you specify <resource-ref> but i have set it in
the tag in my bean for testing now but it work.
I am using an actual CVS version from JBoss.
