I edited the property "UseStrictMode" in this file jboss-portal.sar/portal-wsrp.sar/META-INF/jboss-service.xml and set its value from "true" to "false" everything seemed to work! I am able to see a jboss portlet in sharepoint. Here is my configuration file as an example if anyone else is trying to do this:
