Pinging changed between beta1/2 and beta3. Are you sure you're not using a jar from beta1/beta2 with different jars from beta3?
E.g. you have jars from an earlier release on the client side and different jars on the server side. Or maybe you are using the rar from a different release. All jars used *everywhere* must be from the same release.
