Is jboss-remoting.jar under $JBOSS_HOME/server/<your-config>/jboss-messaging.sar?
Unrelated to the problems you're experiencing, my advice is to upgrade to 1.0.1.SP2 ASAP, lots of things happened since CR2, including fixing a couple of major bugs.
