The point about the documentation is well made. Let's take the Orion
server, for instance. Nobody really complains about the server, and it is
really a great product (both Resin and Orion, by the way, are free for
developers to use -- www.caucho.com and www.orionserver.com). And recently,
Oracle acquired licensing rights to use the Orion technology in their own
products. Now I wouldn't recommend people to buy Orion to use in
production, because of support and documentation issues. But I would
strongly recommend the Oracle version, because of support and documentation
issues. Similarly with Jboss. There are people looking at the server who
code EJB containers, and can look at the source. There are others, who are
newcomers, and look at the documentation first. Most of us thread the happy
ground, of being closer to looking at documentation, but if push comes to
shove, can dive into the source (but prefer not to).

RE: [JBoss-user] manualI think that if there is no documentation for a
product (open source or not), nobody will use it.
In the case of JBoss, I think people don't ask for a very detailed
documentation, but current documentation is not enough, especially
concerning configuration files.
People can't actually see how they can configure JBoss in details, what they
can do with, to compare with others EJB engine.

Its not? i dunno, be amazed at how much one can glean from the source, I
would say in general for a developer that understands it the source would be
the ultimate docs. Sure we all like pretty, fluffy docs that answer our
question instantly, but if something isn't covered, people ask here, or go
to the source.

Very amusing...haha. The source is not ultimate docs. Maybe in world of
'60s.

So I see three options here.
1. Take the 10k your saving and write 10k worth of docs.
2. Send 10k to JBoss and we'll write 10k worth of docs.
3. Read the ultimate docs(the source) and save 10k less the hours it
takes you.
