RE: [JBoss-user] resin + jboss vs. tomcat + jboss
Look at the contrib/tomcat and contrib/jetty for the proceedure.

What is it going to take to have resin and Jboss run in the same VM.? Any
ideas?

Gee, guys. Let's start looking at the good things. Jboss is a great EJB
server, but what JSP and servlet engine do we choose? And there lies the
question. Resin is probably very fast, and benchmarks at
www.orionserver.com and www.caucho.com do place Resin above Tomcat. But
Resin is not intergrated with Jboss in the same VM (however, I believe in an
old email, Scott from Resin agreed to help Jboss with this, should they wish
it). So I guess the question should be this.
How much work is it to intergrate Resin in the same VM?
If Resin were intergrated in the same VM, how would it fare against Tomcat
and Jetty?
Some folks may be interested in spending $500 for the extra speed, and
others would be content with Tomcat or Jetty (both these are probably up to
par with the needs of most).

Oh, Well - here I go - proselytising again.
How about Jetty, Guys !??!.
Various people have posted this list, reporting better
throughput with Jetty than Tomcat.
The Jive forum which is currently being tested for use
at jboss.org works appreciably better on Jetty than
Tomcat.
There is a full integration of JBoss/Jetty available.

If anyone does run with this baton, and benchmark
Tomcat and Resin, please would they contact me with
regards to doing the same for JBoss/Jetty. Then we
will have a real competition on our hands since Jetty
also costs $0 and is OpenSource.
Sorry to be so predictable - but, hell, I'm a rabid
Jetty-ite - what do you expect !
