If you use only one datasource, update DefaultDS in jboss.jcml
appropriately and you shouldn't need jboss.xml.  If I remember correctly,
datasource references are defaulted to DefaultDS (hence the felicitous
nomenclature).  This should ameliorate your reticence in using jboss.xml.
