I don't know if this is a similar case for you, but I exactly obtained this
error when I accessed my JSF page through a link where I forgot to add the
"/faces/" pattern defined in the web.xml file:
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/faces/*</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
