I (think) you'll achieved the same results by adding jboss-portlet.xml to your
war's WEB-INF directory:
<portlet-app>
<service-name>CMS</service-name>
<service-class>org.jboss.portal.cms.CMS</service-class>
<service-ref>:service=CMS</service-ref>
</portlet-app>
