Seam 1.0 will run on any appserver that supports Java EE 5. All vendors are working on implementing EE5, but the ones who seem closest to having a mature implementation are JBoss, Oracle, Sun.
Don't worry about jboss-app.xml, all it is doing is telling JBoss to use scoped classloading, which is something all the other appservers do by default, AFAIK.
