When deploying a seam 1.0.0.rc2 application on jboss.4.0.4.GA i get: 10:16:22,234 ERROR [[/somePath]] Exception sending context initialized event to listener instance of class org.jboss.seam.servlet.SeamListener | java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/ejb/InvocationContext This is because the path for InvocationContext.class have changed to javax.interceptor in jboss.4.0.4.GA Updating jboss-seam.jar to version 1.0.0.CR3 fixed the problem, and the application now run on jboss.4.0.4.GA.
