Thanks for the quick response. The pointer was sufficient to track the problem to an inadvertent jboss.xml entity <configuration-name> element "Standard CMP EntityBean", which invokes the 1.1 CMP config loader. Removing that entry restored the default 2.0 CMP config loader.
