If you turn on debug logging on both nodes for org.jboss.cache.aop.TreeCacheAop, org.jboss.cache.aop.PojoCache and for org.jboss.cache.statetransfer that may give you a clue as to what is going on. Also, make sure your StateTransferTimeout setting is adequate. If Channel.getState() returns false, it basically means the cache that's providing state had some problem generating the state or the state transfer is taking longer than the StateTransferTimeout setting, so the recieipient is giving up.
