Well, I found the answer to my problem on the Beginner Forum (see the "EJB3Trail fails to start in 4.0.4GA" post) The fact was I was running an old version of the JDK. I upgraded from 1.5.0_02 to 1.5.0_07 and the EJBTrail works fine now !
