Hi Robson & John, Thanks for your kind help. I solved the problem which is a double fault case: 1. In my ejb-jar.xml, I made a mistake by setting the transaction-type to be "Bean" for the session bean (which should be "Container") 2. In addUser(), after catching the creation exception, both either throwing EJBException or setRollbackOnly() is working
BTW, any idea for question 1 (i.e. connection keeps increasing).
