Henning, several people have been having the same type of problem with hotdeployment / redeployment of EAR files and classcast exceptions. Most of these were due to the fact that old or unused (or even misplaced) jndi.properties files were lying in the ear file, and caused problems for the jndi lookups, since the "old" home interface is in memory even after the new file has been deployed, causing the exception.
