Thanks Alex. My understanding is entity beans are locked in a transaction and read-only entity beans are locked just for the duration of the method call. Does this behaviour change if the locking mode for the entity bean is set to to optimistic. Or the optimistic-locking is applicable only for Instance-Per-Transaction entity beans.
