I've seen someone suggested some similar ideas as you.  I have created a 
./deploy.last within the deploy and put my sar in it.  I also created 
./deploy.last within the deploy-hasingleton directory and put my .sar in it.  
In both cases, my bean has the same effect: NOTYETINSTALLED.
