Forgot one thing: when I login, the "other" configuration is used. This is confirmed not only by the jmx console, but by the username/passwd that authenticates.
I inserted another username/passwd into the data base to test the authentication config I added for dukes bank, and it wasn't recognized. Perhaps having the users.properties and roles.properties files still installed is confusing it ?
