I'm really interested in your approach to this thing. What is more, we've developed nested conversation-like mechanism on Struts and then on Spring MVC. The central notion there is stack. Yes, a stack. I belive this is basically a good idea to put the conversation on stack when new one is created. In this approach you don't have to care about names etc. You simply use the conversation peeked from the stack, and when the conversation ends it is removed from stack, and the previous one becomes current conversation, actually. I'm not very familiar with Seam, I'm just started with it, but I think you may consider that idea.
