I partially agree with your comments. I feel that dbforms was remarkably
easy to learn and use. It did not take me much time at all to install and
use it for the first time.

That was mainly because I have ironed out the problems with various issues
in my app servers (e.g. it took me a couple of days of trial and error to
get tomcat 4.0.3 jdbc pool working with sybase).

As of dbforms itself, I have never encountered any problems. I mainly use it
for admin pages to maintain reference data. For any main business
components, I still go through the OO design process without dbforms. I am
using dbforms under tomcat 4.0.3, jdk1.4.0, struts 1.1 and tiles. It's been
working well.
