Once upon a time I had the time and the possibility to partecipate to some of
them, but now I must spend all of my "code time" (< 24h / day) on bloated
commercial projects that are crippled because of the usage of more bloated and
really_expensive software products from "leading IT companies".
Is there any way to collaborate with the personal karma to ripristinate the
joyous way of open-source coder on smart and quality open source projects having
also the time to build and maintain a decent social life ?? ;^)
So you want to go back to your previous situation. I think you misunderstand karma. Karma is just not personal. If some people prefer using software that you do not like, you can not avoid the suffering it causes. You will suffer from the market demand and until it changes, you have to suffer because you need to find work to support yourself in the market.
However, if you see the wisdom of open source and can use your bad experience with bloated and and really_expensive software products from "leading IT companies" and convince someone to use open source in thier projects, then you won't have to suffer anymore. If there are enough enlightened people like you in the world, then maybe all our suffering as a coders will stop. [actually we coders will always suffer because that is the nature of life -- the point is to not make our suffering worse than it has to be].
As for a decent social life, well by Italian standards I have no idea what that would be so can not be of any help. Maybe you could try a google search or RTFM. I DK.
