Nicolas,   I think that incorporating AJAX is a good idea.   Another possible use is pre-event validation (possibly only update), where data can be validated BEFORE being sent to the framework. This would be useful in the case of issuing warnings to the user ie. "Warning: XXX will be affected by this change.
