imenu/speedbar problem

Hi!

I'm using JDE 2.1.4 and XEmacs 21.1.8 on NT.
Usually I have no problem with speedbar/imenu, but 
the only one feature seems me suspect:
identifiers which name begins by underscore as 
        private Integer _num;
don't appear in the list of variables.
When I change the name to 'num' (without underscore)
and rescan - oops! It appears. 

Has anyone already run into this problem?
