Paul,
Thanks for your help. Per your advice I upgraded to the latest JDE beta
(2.1.6beta21). Now, when I type 'M-x space' in a file that has not yet been
visited by the debugger, I get an error in the *debug window. It complains
that "com.company.package." (note: it's missing the classname) is not a
valid id or classname (which it is absoluteley correct about). Switching
back to the previous beta (2.1.6beta10), it works fine. There I can bring
start the debugger in the main class, switch to another .java file, and set
a breakpoint in it using 'M-X space.' I dont know if this is a bug that has
been introduced in the latest version of the beta, or if I should never have
assumed that what I was doing would work.
Thanks for your help
Jim
