I have also had this this problem when trying to download zipped tar files
with Netscape. I don't know how to fix the problem. Perhaps somebody on the
JDE list can suggest a solution.
Others have suggested how to adjust the file-type association, which
is the correct long-term association. (But if that doesn't fix it
remember that Netscape also has file-type to helper app associations
in it's preferences that might also have been messed at some time.)
The easy, short term solution: If you right click on a link in
Netscape you will get a popup memu. Select the "Save link as" item.
