specifying the jdk version

Hi,

Is there a way to specify the jdk-directory from which javac and java will be
taken?

The "Jdk directory" variable which is set in JDEbug/preferences seems to be
irrelevant
for this purpose.

I can exit from emacs, change the PATH and reenter emacs but I hope that this is
not
necessary.
