I don't think so. If this was the case it shouldn't work for the first
message either. Compiling using javac doesn't cause any trouble with
compilation mode at all.

I'm more and more convinced this is an XEmacs versus GNU Emacs
issue. I've received several mails of people using GNU Emacs telling
me it works for them.
Mike Woolley sent an email to me indicating XEmacs compile.el is
missing the proper regexp to parse jikes messages.
Unfortunately the solution - which worked for him - doesn't work for me
- XEmacs 21.1.9 that is. I think his regexp is perfectly right and am
digging a little deeper into it.
