Specify -classic as the FIRST SWITCH on the command line.
I wrote a package "jde-hotspot.el" a while back which hacked
(and it is a hack!) JDE to provide support for the -classic
specification, and also for turning on and off all of the various
hotspot options. Im on linux now, and am hotspot-less so I can't
guarantee that it still works. You are welcome to give it a go if you
want....
