Guys,
I am a new JDE user so please be gentle....
Due to circumstances beyond my control I am using jdk-1.1.7_08.
I am running XEmacs-21.1 (pretty much out of the box) with
jde-2.1.5/2.1.6beta23 (same problem in both).
The problem is as follows.
When using jde-db to debug my code, up/down-ing the stack does not result in
the loading into emacs of any source file. There are several possibilities
here :
1. I don't know what I am doing !
I've been using various emacsen with gdb-mode/gud for many years and they
all loaded the correct file as I moved up and down the stack.
2. This is NYI !
I hope not - and judging from the state of the rest of JDE - I would be
surprised if this were so.
3. Something is wrong.
This is my current theory. I have been into jde-db-marker-filter looking for
problems and come to the conclusion (probably flawed) that the version of
jdb I am stuck with is not printing out any useful information after each
change of frame. Thus emacs is unaware of the frame change and so leaves me
looking at the wrong source file.
So:
Does anyone else share my problem (I have been through the troubleshooting
section on the website) ?
Does my theory hold any water ?
I have tried to run on more recent (1.2) jvms - but I get horrible
exceptions out of 3rd party libraries I am shackled to with no chance of
recompiling. So assuming I am stuck with 1.1.7x, does anyone have a version
of jde-db that might work for me, a debugger that might work with jde-db, a
combination of both or an encouraging word and a pointer in the right
direction ?
Thanks for your time,
Jules
