Paul,
I just setup JDE for nt-emacs on my Windows 98 PC at home. In the
"JDE Installation Guide", the information about Cygwin is rather
outdated. It also contains download links to ancient versions of the
tools.
Are you really advocating to use this old version with JDE, or can the
instructions be revised to reflect the latest "net release" of Cygwin?
I will draft the necessary text for you, if that would be helpful.
(I'm the Cygwin FAQ maintainer, so I keep up with it.)
The latest Cygwin setup seemed to work fine for me, with emacs-20.6
(which is slightly old, but works well enough for me). However, I've
only done some very simple edit/compile/run cycles on baby
applications and applets, so I could easily have missed some
incompatibility. But we might as well thrash these out against the
latest Cygwin.
Thanks for providing JDE, it's a fine product.
Regards,
David
