Apologies if someone's already brought this up. I finally got around to installing beta 7... and just ran a byte compile on jde-parse.el and it complains about senator not being there... which it's not (yet) on my install. I don't mind installing senator, in fact I still have version 1.5's zip that David Ponce sent out. I kept it in my inbox with the intent of installing it "any day now". But I think the real issue is: should JDE be dependent on an external package, or can the following fail-safe be added to jde-parse.el to avoid this error? (if (load "senator" t) ) around the section of the file that contains (defadvice beginning-of-defun ... ) (defadvice end-of-defun ... ) Of course (require 'senator) would need to be removed too. This way if folks don't have senator, jde-parse.el will still byte compile and work properly ;-> Or else make senator part of the official distro. I have no preference either way. Just a suggestion.
