Take a look at mmm-mode.el It doesn't have the waiting issue and already has a jsp example found in mmm-sample.el. http://sourceforge.net/projects/mmm-mode I set up an SGML mode as my major mode and sql-mode as my minor mode and now I'm editing XSQL pages with commenting, abbrevs, highlighting ... and I see no performance degradation at all. -- Galen deForest Boyer Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground.
