Hi, all >From 20 days ago, I start to use JDEE as my primary IDE(certainly, I do not like the word:IDE). Thanks for everyone here helped me.
I like emacs, I use emacs write shell, c and sometimes php and html, even latex. When I need to join a Java team, I will not change to eclipse or netbeans, they are two slow and sometimes make me confusion. So I start our Java project with JDEE. our project is start with a simple jar project, then we need to add ejb features, jpa, jms, then some swing clients, many different clients including java web app, python clients and so on. We use maven and ant as build tools, work with postgresql and linux server, jboss container as production server, glassfish as testing server. But, the most important: we use JDK1.5, (compiled with 1.5, run on 1.6). JDEE can not use these features. another: we use maven as main build tool. the folder structure is different, JDEE do not have full support. another again: so limited documentations. hard to find some reference. another again and again: hard to extend. Maybe I need to learn more about elisp and other knowledges. I spend 3 days to write my own template using lisp. another again and again and again: no road-map. Hard to find a road map for JDEE, I am not sure when will JDEE release a new version, and what are JDEE team doing now. another again and again and again and again: limited resource for developers. When I want to read source to learn more about JDEE, I can not find any thing for reference. again and again........ Maybe it's better for JDEE Team to talk more to the community or release more about road map, developing features and others. Even not, we have to do more ourselves to solve the problems we met. Although, This email is just complain, not attack. JDEE is a good tool for emacs users, but at least it is not good enough for modern Java development. Maybe, we must do something for us, for you ,to JDEE, and to our project. To make something better. I will use JDEE tomorrow, even the day after tomorrow.
