Nixil and I put together some auto* stuff to do all this, but jer rejected it for 1.4.2. Why fix what's not broken? The daemonizing should be a fairly quick fix, and I'm not really sure why it's not in there. I'll try to get jer to let me put it in 1.4.2 =)
