Here's further clarification on the Osterman survey they're referencing

aside from the disparity between 'official' and 'unofficial' IM usage ,
there's the question of what percentage of the survey group has
'standardized' under the criteria of the survey.  We know that 84% of the
organizations surveyed used IM , but only 29% for business apps - is this
the standardized population ?

In the long run I suspect Jabber is a greater threat to platforms like
Sametime than Sametime is to Jabber.
