How fast is your computer? Encrypting a GnuPG message for Psi is on average
faster than the rate someone would chat, I think.

Sadly all keys you type while encryption is in progress are lost in Psi.

That's a completely separate issue, though. It's quite possible to fork a process and handle its output while not tying up the keyboard input.
