Legally, who knows. I'm sure IBM has a contract in place with AOL...
My guess is that Sametime is going to be using the official AOL &
Yahoo IM SDK's to talk to their networks. Based on the sametimefuture
link that Oleg posted, 'standards-based' is _only_ mentioned for
Google Talk integration.
