I assume it is OLAP, Star schemas etc....

you have a fact table ( account_id, product_id, time_id, sales_value )
where the unique key is all three id columns.

This is a bit like a three dimensional data cube, with the sales value 
figure at each coordinate.

People talk of slicing, when they select just the data for a few products, 
and dicing, when they limit by more than one axis.

Then of course, there are the account, product and time tables themselves - 
the Dimensions - the points of the star in the star schema.

They have hierarchical relationships in, so you can aggregate from weekly 
data up to months etc.
And attributes, so you can query sales of red products etc.

There are many tools that can handle data in this format and do graphs etc.

Or perhaps that is not what was meant, and everyone new all this stuff 
anyway, in which case I will now desist....

PS. There is something called JOLAP I believe.....
